What’s up guys, my name is Sam Sam Yang. You guys might know me better as Sam does arts on social media and YouTube. I’m a digital artist based in Toronto, Canada. I love creating stylized illustrations and sharing my process with you guys. Hopefully, along the way, I inspire more people to take up art. Art is a beautiful pursuit. It’s just a never-ending journey of learning and growth.
Since I was a little kid, I’ve always enjoyed flipping through art books. I loved going behind the scenes to read about all the processes used to create my favorite artworks, characters, and worlds. Ever since I started to draw, a part of me has always wanted to do the same – to provide people with a place of escape where they can find inspiration for their own art journeys.
I’m super excited to be working with 3D Total Publishing on “The Art of Sam Yang.” This is going to be my very first art book. It’s going to be a collection of artwork – both published before and kept private. Sketchbooks where you can see snapshots of my own personal artistic journey. My work is always changing as I’m learning and growing. Maybe in a few years’ time, I’m going to look back on this book and think, “What the heck were you thinking putting that in there?” But to me, that is the beauty of art. We’re never really finished, and we’re always learning and growing.
Inside this book, you’re going to learn all about my creative early years as well as how I ended up choosing art as a career. I’ve included multiple galleries that showcase both early sketchbook works as well as recent favorites. You’ll also find a few studies and tutorials on essential topics like lighting and expressions. I’ll also go into detail about being part of the art community, where I find inspiration for the work that I make, and how I stay motivated.
