Welcome to TechLink, the show all the cool kids are watching. It would be pretty weird if you didn’t watch it too. In today’s episode, we are discussing the latest Windows 11 update that is causing slow speeds and unstable connections when using public Wi-Fi, specifically affecting devices with certain Qualcomm Wi-Fi adapters and networks with the 802.11r fast roaming standard enabled.
This issue has been particularly impacting places of higher education, such as universities, and Microsoft has yet to officially acknowledge it. As a result, many universities in the US, UK, and Belgium are recommending that students roll back the update to avoid Wi-Fi connection issues interfering with their studies, especially during exam season.
In other news, Apple is facing scrutiny from a bipartisan group of US lawmakers who want the Department of Justice to investigate the tech giant for attempting to shut down the services of tech company Beeper. Beeper developed an Android app called Beeper Mini that allows users to send iMessages, which are exclusive to Apple devices. The lawmakers are concerned about anti-competitive conduct and Apple’s monopoly position in its mobile app ecosystem.
Speaking of legal battles, TikTok has made changes to its user terms and conditions that now require legal challenges to be filed in major Californian courts and must be done within one year of the alleged harm. This move comes after the social media platform settled a class action for $92 million earlier this year after being accused of collecting personal data from underage users.
In the world of tech, the hot new trend on TikTok is to be stripped of your ability to sue the platform, and Apple is under fire from lawmakers while facing its own legal battles. This is certainly an interesting time in the tech industry.
On a more lighthearted note, our quick bits segment is brought to you by AnyDesk, makers of the Aonomus remote desktop application that works for various operating systems. AnyDesk offers lower latency and higher speeds, making remote work seamless and efficient.
In our quick bits segment, we delve into Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset and questions surrounding its Metal FX upscaling feature. There are also updates from Google and an AI startup called iZiP that is pioneering tiny machine learning models.
Furthermore, researchers have made groundbreaking advancements in AI technology by combining electric circuits with brain organoids to create a bio-computer that can learn and perform tasks. It’s both fascinating and slightly unsettling, but such is the nature of cutting-edge technology.
That’s all for this episode of TechLink. Make sure to subscribe and join us on Wednesday for more updates and insights from the world of tech. Thank you for tuning in, and remember, in the ever-evolving landscape of technology, staying informed is the key to staying ahead.
Please stop with the Biden jokes
I've learned to unplug my Wi-Fi adapter on my tower in order to prevent windows from updating, because more often than not the Windows update sends my PC into life support or almost dies, that happened this last time and the time before that and the time before that, somehow Microsoft seems to lead my PC to end of life every time there's a damn update, so I've had enough of that nonsense and have chosen to just never fucking update again, besides too many times do they fuck up something that used to work on the PC that now doesn't work with their stupid updates.
And because of all these issues, I simply do not trust Microsoft for anything, I don't think they even test their builds before they release them, and they don't have a very good system or reporting things either, and their customer service is absolute non-existent, it's just a robotic response page attached to a bunch of shit that you have to read the leads you nowhere always, you end up getting better information in random forums online then in their bullshit website.
This wudent happen if you just used gnu/linux best os ever

Nice shirt there.
no amount and number of law/rules for online child safety will be enough not unless parents are able to wake their kids from delusions and teach them basic common sense.
If it ain’t broke, don’t “update” it.
If you want it broke, let Micro$oft “update” it.

You should not be sponsoring a company that has been instrumental in scammers victimizing people. Anydesk has been one of the most used pieces of software in scamming and the company refuses to do anything about it.
