In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has become an increasingly relevant topic in the financial services industry. The potential benefits and risks of AI are being explored by regulators, industry professionals, and consumers alike. To shed light on this subject, we held two successful symposiums on AI and financial services in 2019 in Washington DC and San Francisco. These events garnered tremendous turnout and fantastic feedback from participants. However, due to the current circumstances, we have decided to reboot our Artificial Intelligence & Financial Services Symposium as a virtual series.
On September 9, 2020, we are hosting our first virtual panel titled “Regulator Roundtable on AI & Financial Services.” The esteemed panel will be moderated by Alex Lakatos, a partner at Mayer Brown. The discussion will feature key players in federal and state financial service regulators, who will share their perspectives on the risks and benefits of AI. Additionally, they will delve into the primary issues related to AI that institutions under their supervision should be focused on.
We are pleased to announce additional speakers for this event. Edward Blatnik, Deputy Counsel at the Office of Innovation at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and Beth Knickerbocker, Chief Innovation Officer at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), will also join the panel. Their insights and expertise will further enrich the discussion.
The virtual panel will take place at different times to accommodate participants from various time zones. In the United States, the event will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. CDT, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. MDT, and 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PDT. For participants in Europe, it will be scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. BST and 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. CEST.
We are excited to announce that this virtual panel is just the beginning. More topics and panel dates for the virtual series will be announced soon. We encourage you to stay connected and be on the lookout for future discussions on AI and financial services.
To register for the virtual panel or to obtain additional information, please reach out to Mike Burbach at mburbach@mayerbrown.com. We look forward to your participation and the valuable insights to be shared during this event. While we miss the in-person symposiums, we believe this virtual series will serve as a great platform to continue the conversation around AI and financial services until we can gather again in New York for the next symposium.
