Exciting Advances in AI: A Deep Dive

There’s been a ton of really cool AI announcements and research that’s been coming out lately and to be quite honest most of it’s been flying under the radar, especially some of this really cool stuff that we’re getting in the world of AI video generation. For example, Byte Dance, the creator of Tik Tok, recently released a research paper called Magic Video V2. It’s a text-to-video model that has shown significant improvement over previous models. This website has tons of examples of text-to-video prompts, like a walking figure made out of water, Hulk wearing virtual reality goggles, a fat rabbit wearing a purple robe walking through a fantasy landscape, and much more.

Comparing AI Video Models

If we compare Magic Video V2 to existing video models available, we can see that Magic V2 does a pretty decent job and is better than the alternatives. The comparison against Stable Video Diffusion, Pika, and Runway Gen 2 shows the capabilities of Magic Video V2. While these technologies are not accessible to us yet, they showcase the advancements being made in AI video generation.

Lumere: A New Breakthrough

Another groundbreaking AI video tool is Lumere, developed by Google Research. It can create incredibly realistic text-to-video animations, such as a dog driving a car, chocolate syrup pouring on vanilla ice cream, or a red Lamborghini navigating a mountain road. The level of detail and realism in these videos is truly impressive. Lumere also has the capability of matching styles of input images, making the animations even more cohesive and visually appealing.

Act Anywhere: A Revolutionary Tool

Stanford and Adobe have teamed up to create Act Anywhere, a tool that allows users to isolate a subject in motion, apply a background, and have the background move in sync with the animation. This tool opens up new possibilities for creating dynamic and immersive animations, as showcased in various examples.

Muse Lab: A Game-Changing Animation Tool

Unity’s Muse Lab is another innovative tool that enables users to create human animations from text prompts and customize them further by adjusting keyframes. This tool offers a more advanced and flexible approach to animation creation, allowing for greater control and creativity in the process.

Google’s Latest Updates

Google has introduced new features in Google Chrome, such as tab organizers and AI-generated themes, enhancing the user experience. They are also working on a feature that assists in drafting text on the web, providing users with more confidence in their writing.

Open AI Developments

Open AI has made updates to GPT 3.5 Turbo and released an updated version of GPT 4 Turbo, addressing issues of laziness in model completion. They have also enhanced their text moderation model and made strides in energy-efficient AI training.

Partnerships and Collaborations

Hugging Face and Google have partnered to collaborate on open-source projects, aiming to make AI models more accessible to developers. This partnership reflects a trend of industry leaders working together to advance AI technologies and tools.

Apple Podcasts Transcription

Apple Podcasts have introduced automatic transcription for podcasts, making it easier for users to access and engage with podcast content. This feature enhances the accessibility and utility of podcast episodes.

Exciting Events and Opportunities

Content Hacker, a conference during South by Southwest, will feature discussions on AI content marketing and the future of AI. This event offers a unique opportunity to engage with industry experts and explore the latest trends in content creation and AI technology.

Disney’s Innovations

Disney’s new platform for virtual reality walking experiences promises a novel way to interact with virtual environments and explore the possibilities of immersive entertainment. This technology represents a new frontier in virtual reality experiences.

Stay tuned for more updates on AI advancements and industry news as the field continues to evolve and push the boundaries of innovation.

  1. For information Lumière in French means Light. It's also the name of the brothers who invented cinema. Text to vídeo is what cinema is all about. Yet I'm not so sure this AI overcome others…

  2. No point following what Google does. They had text to video years ago but we still don't have access to it.
Leave them behind. The best thing they did was release transformer tech. Now we can build the things they don't want us to have.

  3. mr. Matt Wolfe…. i am sorry to see the chair's black head rest is popping awkardly in several places of your video. when you are very conversant with wonderful softwares, why dont you focus on your own video and cut the chair behind you ?…… otherwese your video is very fascinating… no doubt…. kudos

  4. If you have a hard time watching Tik-Tok, look out. Not only is this completely redefining the way we approach digital media, the audience is going to be so full of AI ranch dressing they'll have a hard time eating the salad. EDITED: The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office just collapsed.

  5. You're the bet Matt! I don't even watch other videos anymore. Your style, your presentation, the way you summarize, and your humour added in… all awesome. Please keep making videos!

  6. I have some badly degraded family video from the early nineties that plays like a poor animation (tapes lost magnetisation before they could be copied). I'm hoping that eventually A.I. video will be able to use the key frames to fill in the inbetweens and restore the video so that those few minutes from 1994 look less like a slideshow.

  7. If you look on one of the AI subreddits I think it was r/AIvideo sub. Someone was able to recreate the Kanye West AI music. Seems to look better than the original.

  8. The best AI music video is still Within Temptation's "Bleed Out" video because it uses AI's weaknesses to create a masterpiece of surreal creepiness.

  9. Is it just me that finds the sentence "AI will need some kind of energy breakthrough" scary? I mean, obviously, we don't want energy to make energy poor people energy rich (or at least normal), we want it so that companies have a cheap way to replace human labor? I also find it cool what AI is being doing lately, but somehow, I think it should be directed to proteins folding, medicine and creating a better world, not to text-to-video etc.

  10. Hi Matt and subscribers! I hope someone can help. my Midjourney region never seems to work. it opens then promptly closes again before I can select anything to vary. Any suggestions?

  11. Hey, Matt. Do you have a podcast so I can listen to this on the go, please? I am still working full time and trying to start a side hustle, so I don't have much spare time at the moment.

  12. 21:20 – Holy shi^ this is so much better and simpler and advanced than those bulky overly complex running treadmills of other companies, now this is what im talking about, are they ever intending to sell it for people for VR/MR experiences for homes? that would be fantastic

  13. "Amazing AI video development" is getting old, since literally nothing changed in the last 4 months. Aside of promises and probably fake teasers, what we really can do, is making up to 4 sec videos, on websites where you need to roll the dice about 40 times for one half-decent result.
