Caltrans isn’t the only agency exploring the possibilities of AI. Across the United States, several state departments are diving into AI technologies. For instance, Benjamin McCulloch, strategic data scientist at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), confirmed that his agency is investigating AI applications for tasks like analyzing bid documents. In December, TxDOT released a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence Strategic Plan aimed at detailing its roadmap through 2025-2027.
