AI News had a conversation with Bob Briski, CTO of DEPT®, to explore the sophisticated blend of creativity and technology that heralds a new era in digital experiences.

Central to DEPT®’s philosophy is the strategic deployment of large language models. Briski elaborated on the delicate interplay between the concepts of ‘pioneering’ and ‘boutique’ reflected in their tagline, “pioneering work on a global scale with a boutique culture.”

While ‘pioneering’ and ‘boutique’ evoke notions of innovation and tailored service, ‘global scale’ indicates extensive outreach. DEPT® effectively utilizes large language models to convey highly targeted, personalized messages to vast audiences. According to Briski, these models empower DEPT® to understand individuals on a broad scale and facilitate meaningful, personalized interactions.

“The way we have been employing these large language models is to deliver concise and targeted messages to a wide audience,” Briski states.

The integration of AI across various industries—including retail, sports, education, and healthcare—brings forth both opportunities and challenges. DEPT® successfully navigates this landscape by using generative AI and large language models trained on a variety of datasets, such as extensive collections from Wikipedia and the Library of Congress.

Briski underscored the necessity of combining pre-trained data with DEPT®’s sector-specific expertise to deliver accurate contextual responses, ensuring that clients receive tailored and relevant information suitable for their particular industries.

“The pre-training of these models enables them to elaborate on various domains,” Briski explains. “We can confidently relay that the answers are correct and that they are intended for the client, the consumer, or any other system interacting with the consumer.”

One of DEPT®’s notable successes is its venture into the web3 domain and the metaverse. Briski discussed the company’s partnership with Roblox, a platform recognized for its interactive user experiences. This collaboration focuses on empowering users to create and enjoy user-generated content on an unprecedented scale.

DEPT®’s internal initiative, Prepare to Pioneer, exemplifies its dedication to innovation by nurturing new ideas within its ‘Greenhouse.’ This program cultivates concepts to endure the challenges of the outside world, ensuring that only the most viable ideas are presented to clients.

“We have this internal project called The Greenhouse where we develop initial ideas into concepts robust enough for the external environment,” Briski notes. “The successful ones are much more prepared for implementation with our clients.”

While the appeal of AI-driven solutions is clear, Briski emphasized the necessity for caution. He cautions that AI is not inherently transparent or reliable and highlights the crucial need to build strong foundations for quality assurance.

DEPT® employs automated testing to confirm that responses meet expected standards. Briski also pointed out the significance of establishing strict parameters to guide AI interactions, ensuring consistency with the company’s values and the intended consumer experience.

“It’s essential to maintain a clear focus on the precise dialogues you wish to engage in with your customers and to impose strict guidelines regarding how the model should respond to those queries,” Briski explains.

In December, DEPT® will sponsor the AI & Big Data Expo Global and will participate to share its distinctive insights. Briski will be a speaker at the event and will be presenting an in-depth examination of business intelligence (BI), highlighting strategies to improve responsiveness through large language models.

“I will discuss how we can transform BI to be more responsive to business needs, particularly aided by large language models,” adds Briski.

As DEPT® continues to redefine digital experiences, we eagerly anticipate how the company’s innovations will usher in a new era of AI-powered engagement.
