Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) staff members recently presented at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference 2023. The conference is a gathering of higher education professionals from around the world who gather to develop professionally, build networks, and share problems and solutions to challenges in higher education.
Joe Shelley, Vice President for LITS, led “Beyond ChatGPT: Exploration of AI in Higher Education,” a guided discussion on the current and future impacts of artificial intelligence on small liberal arts colleges, and how these institutions are preparing for what’s next. Shelley was joined by LITS co-presenters Shay Foley, Director of Resource and Digital Strategies, Lisa McFall, Associate Director of Digital Initiatives and Technology, and Douglas Higgins, Digital Scholarship Technologist.
Mike Revenaugh and Forrest Warner, Instructional Designers for Digital Innovation, presented a poster titled “In a Glass Case of Emotion: From Podcasting to Privacy Booths.” The poster detailed the implementation of a pilot program to bring reservable audio production booths to the library to provide students private space to support both student projects and extracurricular needs, such as job interviews and telemedicine.
Ben Salzman, Instructional Designer and Virtual and Augmented Reality Technologist, joined a panel discussion titled, “Collaborating with Wisdom: Building the Institutional Tech Roadmap.” Salzman joined representatives from multiple institutions as they discussed the impact of technology on higher education institutions and the strategies used to foster an adaptive and technologically enabled environment for teaching, learning, and research.
