San Francisco:

Ilya Sutskever, a co-founder of AI company OpenAI, has recently launched a new firm named Safe Superintelligence Inc (SSI) just one month after departing from ChatGPT maker.

Having left OpenAI in May this year due to disagreements with the leadership, Sutskever, along with Jan Leike, who co-led OpenAI’s ‘Superalignment’ team, has now started his own venture. Leike is now heading a team at rival AI company Anthropic, which has received investments from tech giants Google and Amazon.

In a post on a social media platform, Sutskever expressed that “SSI is our mission, our name, and our entire product roadmap, because it is our sole focus.” He also mentioned, “We plan to advance capabilities as fast as possible while ensuring that safety remains a top priority. This approach allows us to scale effectively.”

“Our exclusive focus means no distractions from management overhead or product cycles, and our business model guarantees that safety, security, and progress are shielded from immediate commercial pressures,” the post continued.

The company is currently recruiting a select team of top engineers and researchers to work solely on SSI.

“For those interested, we provide an opportunity to contribute to a significant technical challenge of our time,” the company stated.
