Long before ChatGPT entered the picture, there was IBM Watson, which rose to fame in 2011 when it beat champion Ken Jennings on Jeopardy. IBM has a long history with AI and has developed a generative AI solution called Watsonx. The company offers an AI Fundamentals program inside the SkillsBuild learning portal, with a ten-hour curriculum covering six courses. The AI ethics class delves into topics such as AI fairness, transparency, privacy, and governance. If you’re interested in AI, the course also provides insights into the job landscape in the AI field.

If you want to take the course, you can create a free account on IBM’s SkillsBuild learning portal. The courses include Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals Learning Plan, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Run AI Models with IBM Watson Studio, AI Ethics, and Your Future in AI: The Job Landscape. Each course consists of reading, videos, and quizzes, and you’ll receive an official certificate upon completion.

After taking the full course, the author found it to be engaging, informative, and useful for gaining a better understanding of AI. The ethics section was particularly interesting, and the course is highly recommended for those interested in a career in AI. It’s important to note that you’ll need to create an account on the main IBM SkillBuild entry portal to access the courses, and the platform also offers a free Fundamentals of Sustainability and Technology course. For those interested, more free AI learning resources will be provided early in 2024.
