2023 is coming to a close and we might have just witnessed what people call the chat GPT moment of AI video. In November, we experienced major advances in consumer-accessible AI video tools. This is the perfect time to cover it all, but hold up.
We are comparing this to chat GPT because, while it might not have the same cultural significance, video is a whole different beast compared to written text. When we talk about AI generated videos, we are talking about a density of information that is unprecedented when it comes to AI tools. This is significant because as you know, a picture says more than a thousand words. Well, a video is 24 pictures every second, plus audio, so this stuff really matters.
Almost every social platform, except maybe Twitter, has ended up as a video-first platform. There’s a reason for that. Trust me, there’s a lot to talk about here. We now have an open-source video model, Stable Duffusion Gen 2, a leader in the field. Let’s dive into the facts.
Runway’s Gen 2 was the first to make major waves in AI video that were not terrible. They released their first foundational model, Gen 1, earlier this year, and later introduced Gen 2. These foundational models offer a lot of features, but they are not created equal. Text to video might not be perfect in practice, but image to video works surprisingly well. Their features like the remove background and motion brush are excellent additions.
Stable Diffusion, an open-source image generator by Stable AI, introduced a Stable Diffusion video model at the end of November. This model is completely open source, allowing users to run it on their local computers offline for free. There are limitations, but with all the coming updates, this is just the beginning. Various sites, like Hugging Face, Decoherence App, and Replicate.to, offer ways to use the Stable Diffusion model.
For upscaling videos, Topaz Video AI is the best software available to upscale videos with AI, providing rich detail and enhancing the quality of AI-generated videos. P Labs, with their impressive P 1.0 model, blew people away with their trailer showcasing high-quality AI-generated videos. They plan to create consumer-friendly tools for creators, making AI video more accessible to a wider audience.
The future of AI video tools is promising, with the potential to revolutionize storytelling and videography. Individuals will be able to create compelling stories with visuals beyond what traditional tools can offer. Learning these tools and becoming fluent in them is crucial for videographers and creators to stay ahead of the curve in this rapidly evolving space.
As AI-powered video tools continue to advance, the line between real video and AI-generated video is becoming blurred. Expect to see a significant impact on society as AI video tools become more prevalent on social media platforms. The future of AI video is exciting and full of potential for creators and storytellers alike.
This overview provides a glimpse into the evolving landscape of AI video tools, and there is much more to explore in this space. Stay tuned for future videos diving deeper into specific aspects of AI video technology. If you have any specific requests or questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below. AI tools are getting so good that you have to use them. Otherwise, you will be left behind everyone else. They are really good for content creators, and I have some kind of strategy going on currently (I create something with AI, and then when I post it, I use a little bit of Famester to make it go instantly viral). So far it shows good results, and I hope it will continue like that.
great information Igor and I love Philip's video! 💟
You're awesome thank you i will follow weekly. TC
Igor, you consistently produce some of the best AI content on YouTube. The perspectives you use are incredibly helpful as we make our own attempts to execute creatively using AI. You don't just offer the latest news. You show us how to use and experiment with the different platforms and caution us about limitations and offer us choices that we can use today. Thank you, Igor, for your insights, education and inspiration!
Outstanding summary of the tools available. 2024 is going to be huge in this space.
I wonder, do you see these tools filtering into 3D animation programmes (e.g. Blender, Maya…) in the same way that they have done in the 2D landscape (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite)?
Thanks
I really want to like your videos, the content / topics are great but you talk way too fast…what's the rush?? Maybe it's me, could well be me… but just seems like you're way above the 120 – 150 words per minute standard.
