Army Chief Manoj Pande discusses the utilization of AI in the Indian Army and states, “We have established the philosophy for both AI and machine learning within the army. Specifically in the realm of AI, we are focusing on surveillance and image interpretation. Several projects have been initiated under the banner of Defense Excellence, and contracts have been issued in support of these endeavors. The army is also embracing robotics for combat and combat vehicles, as well as RPA (Robotic Process Automation). To counter RPAs, the army has introduced remotely piloted aircraft systems, which serve for surveillance and range from nano to macro drones, covering distances of up to 120 kilometers. Additionally, logistics drones are being employed to deliver essential materials in war zones and other complex areas.
