In response to the dynamic landscape of business demands, the Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon has prioritized three essential focus areas for the academic year 2025-26: artificial intelligence (AI), neuroscience, and sustainability.

Revamping the Curriculum

To align with these focus areas, MDI Gurgaon is undertaking significant revisions to its course offerings and curriculum. The emphasis will be on harnessing business applications of AI, employing neuroscience to analyze consumer behavior, and advancing sustainability and energy initiatives in the upcoming year.

Establishment of New Research Facilities

As part of this strategic shift, MDI Gurgaon has recently launched a neuroscience laboratory. Additionally, plans are underway to establish dedicated centers for financial services and energy and sustainability.

“This is the current request from HR heads and CEOs when it comes to recruiting new talent,” stated Professor Arvind Sahay, Director of MDI Gurgaon. “We are rolling out new courses concentrating on AI applications in business, data visualization in geospatial location, neuroscience, and consumer behavior, among others.”

Course Offerings for Future Leaders

The newly introduced courses will be available as two-year programs or will qualify as equivalent degree programs. MDI is focused on equipping students with the necessary technological competence, particularly in areas like AI, machine learning, the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, Tableau, and Python.

Emotional Intelligence and Behavioral Competencies

MDI is also reimagining its course content to better prepare future managers and business leaders. There is a greater emphasis on cultivating behavioral competencies, such as emotional resilience, collaboration, and active listening.

“Managing your own emotions and understanding the emotions of others is critical for effective leadership,” explained Sahay.

Centers of Excellence: AI and Financial Services

MDI already has a dedicated Center for AI and its applications in business. Furthermore, the launch of the Center for Financial Services is scheduled for this month, which aims to function as a research think tank focused on India’s financial service sector.

Upcoming Sustainability Initiatives

“We have just begun efforts to secure funding for the establishment of the Center for Energy and Sustainability,” Sahay confirmed. This center is projected to launch within the next six months.

Innovating the Admission Process

In tandem with these developments, MDI Gurgaon has introduced a written aptitude test as part of its admission process.

“This assessment is designed to evaluate a candidate’s ability to articulate their thoughts effectively on paper in real-time,” Sahay added, highlighting the significance of strong communication skills in the current job market.
