You know Tech news isn’t all fun and games

Tech news is always an exciting and ever-changing world to keep up with. From the latest updates in software to the newest gadgets hitting the market, there’s always something new to learn and explore. But amidst all the excitement, it’s important to remember that tech news isn’t all fun and games. There can be real consequences to the advancements and changes happening in the tech world, and it’s essential to stay informed and aware of these potential impacts.

Partner Up

One of the most critical aspects of staying informed in the tech world is to have a partner to discuss and navigate through the news. This partner can provide a different perspective, offer insights, and help keep you grounded when diving into the tech news. If you don’t have a physical partner, even having an online community or forum can serve as a valuable resource for discussing and dissecting the latest tech updates.

Microsoft’s Edge Browser Controversy

One recent example of the potential consequences of tech news is the controversy surrounding Microsoft’s Edge browser. Reports have surfaced that the Edge browser has been automatically importing users’ data from other browsers, such as Chrome, without explicit permission. This invasion of privacy has raised concerns and sparked discussions about the ethical use of user data in browsers.

Arc Search AI-Powered Feature

Another exciting, yet controversial development is the launch of Arc search, an iPhone-exclusive app with an AI-powered feature called “browse for me.” While the convenience of AI-assisted search is undeniable, there are concerns about how publishers are compensated when their content is scraped by a bot instead of a human user.

Amazon’s Failed Acquisition and Apple’s iOS Changes

Amazon’s failed acquisition of iRobot and Apple’s proposed changes in response to the EU Digital Markets Act are also examples of how tech news can have significant real-world implications. These developments have sparked regulatory scrutiny and market shifts, highlighting the far-reaching consequences of tech news beyond mere updates and announcements.

In conclusion, while tech news can be exciting and engaging, it’s crucial to recognize that it isn’t all fun and games. There are real implications and consequences to the developments and changes happening in the tech world, and it’s important to stay informed and aware of these impacts. Partnering up and engaging in discussions are key to navigating the complexities of tech news and understanding its broader implications.

  1. Hey guys Riley here again to make sure you understand that no one's forcing you to sell your graphics card. It's literally your choice. But if you're looking for a change, Jawa can help you sell your old graphics card the easy way and offset the cost of your new card at https://bit.ly/JawaTLJan24 . BUT NO PRESSURE! You can also request to be buried with your GPU, pharoah-style, that's totally fine

  2. I thought I was going crazy but I have noticed Edge stealing my open tabs too. Not just that but literally closing my other browser. Imo that's totally unacceptable and shouldnt be legal. Imagine if Burger King came to Mcdonalds and swapped your burger when you nipped to the toilet – there would be a court case, it's verging on being assault.

  3. My main problem with Edge right now is invasive guerilla marketing in Google search under Brave. Edge inserts one of those blocks of suspicious looking "search results" that, if clicked, pops up a new tab for a Bing search.
Cannot find a way to disable this crap.

  4. I've replaced Edge with Firefox a while ago, and by replaced, I mean I removed Edge from all my devices altogether using Revo Uninstaller.

Also note: make sure you add a DWORD key to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/EdgeUpdate and name it DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium with a value of 1. This will make it so Edge won't re-install after an update.
(If the EdgeUpdate folder doesn't exist, create one via Right Click > New > Key)
