Telcos collaborate with Amdocs, NVIDIA, and Microsoft Azure to develop tailored LLMs

Amdocs, in collaboration with NVIDIA and Microsoft Azure, is set to revolutionize the global telecoms industry by developing custom Large Language Models (LLMs). With the telecoms sector processing massive amounts of data daily and the anticipation of global data transactions exceeding 180 zettabytes by 2025, there is a growing need for efficient data processing and analysis. To meet this demand, Amdocs will leverage NVIDIA’s AI foundry service on Microsoft Azure to create and optimize custom generative AI models.

NVIDIA’s AI foundry service, which includes the NVIDIA AI Foundation Models, NeMo framework, and DGX Cloud AI supercomputing, provides a comprehensive solution for developing and optimizing generative AI models. Amdocs plans to utilize this service to develop enterprise-grade LLMs specifically tailored for the telecom and media industries. This partnership builds upon the existing collaboration between Amdocs and Microsoft, ensuring the adoption of applications in secure and trusted environments.

As enterprises increasingly focus on developing custom models for industry-specific tasks, Amdocs, with its extensive reach in serving over 350 leading telecom and media companies across 90 countries, is well-positioned to explore generative AI use cases. The initial applications of this collaboration will focus on customer care and network operations. In customer care, the aim is to accelerate the resolution of inquiries by leveraging information from company data. In network operations, solutions are being explored to address real-time configuration, coverage, or performance issues.

This strategic move by Amdocs places the company at the forefront of ushering in a new era for the telecoms industry by harnessing the capabilities of custom generative AI models. With this partnership, Amdocs aims to enhance efficiency and productivity in the telecoms sector while meeting the increasing demand for data processing and analysis.
