New Insights from the 2024 Generative AI Report
PHOENIX, April 09, 2024—(BUSINESS WIRE)—The University of Phoenix and Executive Networks are pleased to share the findings of their latest research study 2024 Generative AI Report: L&D’s Breakthrough Moment. The survey included close to 1,000 responses from human resource leaders and knowledge workers regarding the application of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in the learning and development (L&D) function.
Optimism vs. Reality: A Gap in Confidence
The study revealed a disparity in perspectives: while HR and talent leaders showed optimism about using GenAI, knowledge workers exhibited less confidence. With L&D teams uniquely positioned to enhance the quality and speed of learning experiences, the research outlines crucial actions for leaders to take to harness the potential benefits of GenAI within their organizations.
“AI and GenAI are impacting every aspect of the business of learning, and the experience of every learner,” shares Gina Jeneroux, Chief Skills & Innovation Officer at ORG AI. “There are new opportunities for personalization at scale, accelerated skill development, more immersive experiences, and faster time to market. L&D teams will need a combination of curiosity and cutting-edge skills to maximize this shift while also appreciating the risks that accompany AI.”
Survey Insights: How Are HR Leaders and Knowledge Workers Adopting GenAI?
Conducted in late 2023, the survey engaged 497 HR leaders and 504 knowledge workers in North America, exploring their current use of GenAI and their outlook on the future of L&D in light of these technologies. The research aimed to capture knowledge workers’ experiences and perspectives regarding GenAI tools and their organizational impact.
Unlocking Potential in Workforce Learning
Raghu Krishnaiah, Chief Operating Officer at the University of Phoenix, echoed the promise of GenAI: “Learning leaders and HR professionals are uniquely positioned to unlock the potential of AI in their organizations. Successfully leveraging AI, including GenAI, will require vision, advocacy, and empowerment.”
Expectations for the Future
The study emphasized that HR and talent leaders are excited about the possibilities GenAI presents, particularly in enhancing learning. Survey results indicated that 56% of leaders expect greater productivity through GenAI, while 49% anticipate improved employee experiences.
