Yeah, the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) has officially begun in Las Vegas and for those of us who can’t be there in person, we’ll be bringing you all the highlights right here in our regular studio. With all the latest announcements and product launches, this year’s show promises to be full of exciting developments in the world of consumer electronics. From new Wi-Fi standards to graphics cards and even AI-powered grills, there’s definitely a lot to cover.

The Wi-Fi Alliance made a major announcement at CES, confirming the official certification of the Wi-Fi 7 standard. This new standard boasts twice the channel bandwidth of Wi-Fi 5, 6, and 6E, making it better for high-bandwidth streaming and a range of other applications. The multi-link operation feature of Wi-Fi 7, which allows devices to connect to multiple bands simultaneously, is a particularly exciting development that promises to reduce latency and improve overall connectivity.

In addition to the Wi-Fi 7 announcement, Qualcomm has already announced several designs using the new standard, with their FastConnect 7800 module already found in Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 3 chips. While Wi-Fi 7 routers have been available for some time, they are currently awaiting official certification. With the promise of improved connectivity and reduced latency, Wi-Fi 7 is definitely something to look forward to.

On the graphics card front, AMD made waves with the announcement of the RX 7600 XT, the first 16 GB VRAM card under $500 this generation. This is an important development as 16 GB is the minimum memory requirement for generative AI applications, making it a compelling option for both gamers and professionals. With a release date of January 24th and an MSRP of $329, the 7600 XT promises to offer high-performance graphics at an affordable price point.

Nvidia also had a major announcement at CES, unveiling the new 40 series super cards. With release dates and prices confirmed, these new cards promise significant performance improvements over the previous generation, especially when using DLSS 3. The 4080 super, in particular, was touted as being faster than the 3090, offering impressive performance at a lower price point.

In addition to graphics cards, AMD also unveiled their new 8000G APU lineup, with a focus on providing potent graphics for budget-minded gamers. With the 8700G claimed to reach 60 FPS playing Cyberpunk at 1080p, AMD seems to be targeting a budget-conscious audience with its new lineup.

And of course, CES wouldn’t be complete without some quirky and unexpected announcements. From Apple’s Vision Pro to BMW’s gaming features in their cars, and even an AI-powered grill by Sear Grills, there’s no shortage of interesting and sometimes downright bizarre developments to keep an eye on.

Overall, CES 2023 promises to be an exciting time for tech enthusiasts, with a wide range of announcements and product launches to look forward to. As we continue to cover the show from our studio, we’ll be keeping a close eye on all the latest developments and innovations coming out of Las Vegas. Stay tuned for more updates and highlights from CES!

  1. Selena? Something made up, or a reference?

Better performance is always good, but how does the performance per dollar calculation (non DLSS) look?

5:30 IMO, personally (as someone who can't afford it) the coolest thing they could do with this would be layered screens (to give it depth (kind of holographic), films would most likely need to be specially filmed to for that to no suck). Other than that, this just looks like an art piece/them bragging about their tech.

  2. However, very few devices support WiFi 7 currently, with the likely exception of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra. the iPhone 16 Pro likely coming in September to include WiFi 7, and don't be surprised that the upcoming MacBook Air M3 and the M3-based Mac mini and Mac Studio m0odels also support WiFi 7.
