Engineering and manufacturing solutions provider Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) has announced an exciting new business division aimed at enhancing India’s electronics industry.

Introducing Wipro Electronic Materials

On Monday, WIN unveiled its latest venture: Wipro Electronic Materials. This initiative will focus on manufacturing high-performance base materials specifically for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).

A Significant Investment in Karnataka

As part of this new division, the company is establishing a state-of-the-art Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing facility in Karnataka. This project entails an investment of approximately Rs 500 crore, which is expected to create around 350 new jobs.

Production Capacity and Materials

The manufacturing plant will have the capability to produce over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates annually, along with corresponding pre-impregnated materials, according to a company statement.

Wipro Electronic Materials marks a groundbreaking investment within India’s electronics manufacturing landscape. This initiative has been made feasible through the support of the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Currently, India imports 100% of its copper-clad laminates. This new facility aims to change that dynamic, supporting a range of rapidly growing sectors.

The manufacturing plant is poised to boost sectors such as telecommunications, automotive electronics, consumer devices, industrial systems, and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
