Depending on who you ask, generative AI is either going to improve work efficiency or lead to unemployment. The major task for professionals and businesses is to explore how generative AI can be used to enhance productivity.

Six business leaders share how organizations are beginning to utilize generative AI. Adam Warne, CIO at retailer River Island, mentions that his organization is exploring the use of GPT for content generation and aims to ensure its readiness for customer-facing services. He is cautious about integrating AI directly without human intervention but anticipates a rapid evolution in automation.

Brad Woodward, head of data at women’s lifestyle retailer Hush, believes that generative AI tools can significantly enhance productivity, especially for IT developers. He shares an example of when ChatGPT helped him automate the creation of sample data, saving him time. Lily Haake, head of technology and digital executive search at recruiter Harvey Nash, suggests looking for a knowledgeable partner outside the enterprise firewall to explore generative AI through small steps.

Prakash Rao, group head of supply chain projects at Landmark Group, advises focusing on the business use case for implementing AI effectively. Robyn Furby, technology adoption manager at insurance firm NFU Mutual, expresses cautious enthusiasm for utilizing ChatGPT within the enterprise and highlights the potential for enterprise-ready adaptations from Microsoft.

Stephen Wild, engineering manager at 888 William Hill, has also been experimenting with ChatGPT but emphasizes the need for generative AI to produce tangible business benefits and looks forward to the launch of enterprise-ready applications.
